A World Gone Awry

My name's Samantha,
I'm 15 years old,
I live in Indiana,
I'm shy at school, but at home I'm bold.

But this is just dusting the surface,
These are basic facts.
These next stanzas will have more purpose,
So sit back and relax.

My mom and dad had been together for 16 years,
Until my dad decided to cheat.
They're still together now,
Because together they can't be beat.

When I found out last February, I was very stressed.
My whole life had been turned upside down,
God, I was so depressed.

My dad said he'd been unhappy for the past three years.
What's true love when you find out it's not true?
That brought me to a flood of tears.

Time passed, it was over a year ago,
I wouldn't like to go back to that day,
Although I wish he wouldn't have done it,
I still love him to this day.

My social life has had its ups and downs,
We've all been there, I suppose.
I've had many spats with a few people I've quit talking to,
But they were just plain crazy, at that.

Lately, I've hit a low point,
The group of friends I had now ignore me,
I don't know why,
But life is now quite boring.

So here I am, now,
Present day.
With brown hair and green eyes with a smile as my disguise,
Life is a game, and I'm tired of playing.

People tell me, "Be happy, it could be worse."
But you don't understand,
I've tried and I've tried,
But that's not how happiness works.
That's my life, enjoy the verse.
