The strange girl stared up at Lydia.
"Let me up there!" she yelled at Lydia, aiming the rusted silver gun at her.
Lydia looked down and was shocked to see the girl.
Shehasagunshehasagun.
Lydia began to panic. What should she do? The tree was already fragile. But Lydia wasn't going to purposely let the girl die.
Lydia scooted up higher on the tree.
"Come on up," she said cautiously.
Putting the gun in her mouth, the girl began to scoot up the tree. Lydia kept watch on the ocean. The wave was getting bigger. It must have been nearly 10 feet tall now. Lydia's stomach began to hurt. This tree would fall. It couldn't save them. The wave would take it down.
"Hello?" the girl said, putting the gun in her pocket. She pulled out a stick of gum and began to chew it. She passed Lydia one.
"Thanks." Lydia said, unsure of what to do.
"I'm Jupiter." the girl said, popping her gum loudly.
"Isn't that a planet?" Lydia laughed. She immediately remembered the gun an stifled her laugh.
Jupiter grinned. "Yeah. Lucky me, right?"
Jupiter had straight black hair with red and blue strips in it. Her black eyeliner made her grey eyes noticable.
"I'm Lydia." Lydia smiled and stuck out her hand.
Jupiter ignored her gesture and looked out at the ocean. She whistled under her breath and looked back at Lydia.
"We. Are. Screwed." Jupiter sighed. "I've been through so much. And I'm only 17."
"I'm 16." Lydia shrugged.
"I really don't care about your age right now." Jupiter mumbled as she wrapped her legs around the trunk of the tree. She pulled the gun out of her pocket.
Lydia instinctively backed away.
Jupiter snorted.
"I'm not going to hurt you. I was only going to shoot you if you didn't let me up." she cackled.
"Oh.." Lydia laughed, unsure of whether that was good or not.
The wave must have been about 50 feet tall. It would be over 200 in no time.
"Wrap your body around the trunk," Jupiter ordered.
Lydia obeyed, terrified of what would happen when the wave would hit.
Jupiter whistled. "Damn, that's about 250 feet tall. Maybe 260?"
Lydia trembled with fear. "I can't swim." she whispered.
Jupiter gave her a pitying look. "Then I guess you won't be passing this test."
