There was a streak of blue light falling from the sky. I grabbed Zayden's hand and squeezed it tightly. His eyes followed my gaze. He scooted closer to me and whispered in my ear, "Whatever happens, I love you." Tears fell from my eyes. I buried my face into his shoulder, not wanting to watch anymore. Finally whatever it was it hit struck causing a huge mushroom cloud. The ground trembled beneath us. I opened my eyes and looked a Zayden. We made our way back to my car. We hopped in and I drove as fast as I could back home. The house was still standing. I ran inside with Zayden right behind me. "Mom!," I shouted. I searched everywhere. When I walked into the kitchen I found her laying on the floor. I dropped down next to her and grabbed her wrist. She still had a pulse. Zayden picked her up and carried her over to the couch. He laid her down carefully. I could see that there was a bruise forming on her forehead. I ran back and got her an ice pack. I placed it on her forehead and plopped down onto the nearest chair. I slid over enough for Zayden and he sat next to me. I turned on the tv to the news. Several stations were reporting what had just happened. I fell asleep in Zayden's arms while watching the news.
