"Baby doll, you're crazy. That's in a city three hours away from here," she said. "Mom, it's our only hope! We can take enough food and supplies to get us there and we can gas up the car before we go," I said, "if we leave tomorrow we can be there by sun down." She shook her head. Zayden, who had apparently been awake the whole time, moved over by my side. "She's right, we need to keep moving. If we stay here any longer they will eventually get in and then we'll have no escape. This place seems to be the best choice for all of us," he said. Mom just stood there. "Look the hardest part will be getting outside to the car but from there on out, it's a cakewalk," I said walking over to her and placing my hand on her shoulder. She placed her hand over mine and gave it a gentle squeeze. "And you promise we'll be there by sun down?," she asked. "Yes, I promise," I said. She nodded her head. "Alright, we'll leave," she said. I hugged her tightly. "Everything will be ok momma," I told her. After we ate our breakfast, we gathered around the kitchen table. Zayden had a map spread out on the table. "Where is this place?," he asked. "Do you remember that shopping mall we went to during our Spanish trip at school?," I asked. "Yeah Stones River," he said. "It's there," I told him. He took out a highlighter and stared at the map some more and then finally he highlighted the quickest route from here to there. I looked up at mom. "Do we have any weapons what so ever that we can use to defend ourselves with?," I asked. "Of course we do," mom said. I followed her to her room and in the back of her closet was a gun safe. "Your father loved collecting these things," she said putting in the combination. It opened with ease and my eyes lite up when I saw all the guns and ammunition. It wouldn't last us forever but it'd be enough to get us to the mall. We gathered everything and took it down to the living room. As we loaded every gun I felt a strong sense of hope wash over me. I stuffed the extra ammo in a duffel bag and left it on the couch. "We're going to be just fine," I said looking up at Zayden and mom.
