Apocalypse 10

I woke up to the sounds if those things beating on the house. I got up carefully not to wake up Zayden and ran up stairs to get a glimpse of the real world. I stood in front of my bed room window and looked down at them. They swarmed the house. I knew that pretty soon they would find a weak point and break through but I had no clue what we would do once they did. "So, this is how it ends?," I asked my self. "You know talking to yourself is the first sign of going crazy," mom said smiling at me. "Now seems to be the perfect time to go crazy," I said. She entered my room and sat down on my bed. I sat down next to her. "I'm so afraid," I said, staring down at the floor. "It's ok to be afraid sweetheart," she said wrapping her arms around me, "I'm scared too." "We need to get out of here before those things get in," I told her. She stared at me then nodded. "How will we leave?," she asked,"and where else would we go?" I shook my head. "I don't know but there has to be a place out there somewhere that's safer than where we are now," I said looking back to the window. "That's one thing I always loved about you," she said smiling, "you always have hope even now when we're in a crap situation, you have hope." I hugged her tightly. "Let's go," she said getting up,"I'll fix us something to eat and we can discuss leaving with Zayden." I nodded and followed her down stairs. Zayden was still asleep on the chair. I walked over to the tv and clicked it on but almost all of the stations were down. I clicked until I thought my fingers would break until finally I found a station that was still on air. Not only that, they were broadcasting about a place that would take in any survivor. They offered shelter and safety and they swore that they were free of infection. I looked over the couch at mom who was also watching. "That's where we'll go," I said.
