It started out as an obsession; turned into a lifestyle and yet I lay awake at night; was it worthwile; the possessions I owned or was I possessed by them; I was strapped to the floor; I was condemned; I was trapped by the door; the light at the end of the tunnel; but I realized It was a lie; I was just in a funnel; falling down into that pit where our souls die; the place where those blind holes cry; I was part of the problem; I just found out; Suffocated by guilt; I couldnt shout;
I finally saw what I needed to see; my darkest hour illuminating the rest of my life for me and I heard the ring of the bells; the thawing of hell; I saw blood pumped out of the ground; oil in our veins; without a sound; the muted pains; the numbed feeling; the money started to pound; these banks are alive and well; time is money but they got time to sell; we buy our time for the time being; I hide this rhyme from the all seeing eyes that pry through my screens; big brothers back; dont you hear the screams; your deaf cuz of that headset; listening to the rhetoric you'll all set; be a good American and do us a favor; be a good samaritan and be this company's savior; weve lost our fifty stars and stripes; its all been replaced by the cars and pipes; dumping money into pumping oil; breaking our backs; sweat into the soil; cut us some slack; the debts about to boil; over is this game before its begun; this wars got no name but who cares; weve won
We fight for our right to fight; we fight for the right to kill; we might as well live tonight; cuz tommorow we wont pay our bills; I fight for the right to write;its all in the call of duty; blood in my ironsights; till I get my fill; operation desert storm; decades have past so fast and yet we still conform; to the policies of death; our states are resolute in thier resolve; wait wheres the ref; were irate cuz we cant evolve; into a more civilized society; criminalized propriety; ritualized piracy; dont you see the irony; were no longer free unless we pay the fee and read the fine print; I see my world with a red tint and I know no end; to the lengths were willing to go to defend; our independence from an anonymous friend; whose become synonymous with terror; but realize no one is free of human error; and forever are we blessed with this curse; just I am pressed to write every verse
Were too scared to step down from our place; in the fear that were left behind in this race; but we dont get it till we come face to face; with a mirror and all becomes clear; the fog fades away and all were left with is fear; all were left with is blood and an unshed tear; its boils in my eyes; this pain sears and I let out my cries but no one hears; we are eagles;we are birds of prey; yet theyve clipped our wings; they'll have their say; they are regal in thier power play; a display of might; a forthcoming fight; protesting whats wrong with our rights; we are not represented; black and purple; brown and white; justice is colorblind when I recite;
An eye for an eye; you live we die; you laugh we cry; they call it justice; its just this; weighted scales; theyre busted; weak and frail; its rusted;blinded by by the stars; head to toe in stripes; look at how far weve been marred; they've taken our rights; were in thier sights; I guess its all right; cuz this aint my neighborhood;
