Religion And Jesus

Religion is a man made thrill, Jesus, came not to abolish, but to fulfill

Religion causes division,
Jesus, cleanses the mind, sweet revision.

Religion is burdensome, dark as night, Jesus, clears a path, righteous light.

Religion has contradictions, old and new books don't agree
Jesus, said many rules of the old, don't apply to thee.

Religion gives the one with power the right,
Jesus, empowers you, with the way, the truth, the light.

Religion causes those confused to doubt, Jesus, gives clarity to the lost, joy to shout.

Religion reminds you of your sin, Jesus, allows you forgiveness, your chance to win.

Started writing poetry officially in 1991, enjoy reading Edgar Allen Poe, reading and dissecting the Holy Bible, and listening to beautiful/inspiring people. Age has no bearing on creativity. Some of the most beautiful things come from those of much lesser age and life experiences. So listen to those young people!

Can Jesus be separate from religion?

@Burrfoot yes I was thinking the same thing. 😔

@eddie12309 if he were Christianity would have him as the saviour, not part of a trinity.

@Burrfoot the piece makes sense if you disregard " religion" as a whole and believe only in jesus's teachings but surely without the holy books there would be no Jesus?

Agreed.. If you discount all the mystical godly elements the idea of Jesus becomes much more palatable. A very loving and caring man, worthy of being a role model.

All well said. Without the gospels Jesus would still be a historical figure (writings of Josephus is one example). I had one person ask me a great question once. He asked me what religion was God. I answered God was not a religion. Religion is man's interpretation of what he must be done to accomplish goal, he feels God wants him to do.

Sorry, interpretation of what he believes must be done, to accomplish the goals, he believes God wants him to do. Sorry about the bad typing on the post prior. A little "fat-fingered" this morning. :-)

A very interesting piece. If you make comments you need to tag the person/persons they're aimed at or we won't see them. 👍 @Burrfoot

@eddie12309 Ok. Thanks.
