The sky changes,
Clouds appear,
The atmosphere tenses,
An eerie feeling and fear,
I walk through the forest,
An alley way of trees,
I walk with tentative steps,
On a path made out of leaves,
The leaves crunch underfoot,
And twigs snap and break,
I need to walk through the forest,
On my journey to the lake.
With the weather quickly changing,
I speed up my walking pace,
A leisurely stroll that,
Has now turned into a race.
A storm is a brewing,
And I am all alone,
The lake is worth this feeling,
I am not turning back home.
The wind begins to howl,
The rain begins to fall,
I can hear it pitter on the leaves,
Of the trees that stand so tall.
The crash of thunder sounds,
And lightening lights up the sky,
I decide to sit and wait,
And watch the storm go by.
An hour or two pass,
And the storm has come to a lull,
The moon has made it's presence known,
Banishing the sky from being so dull.
I walk through the clearing,
Out from the cover of the trees,
I walk out to the expansive space,
And sink down to my knees.
The lake is right before me,
Untouched and unspoilt by mankind,
If you didn't think this was true beauty,
I'd say I'd think you were blind.
Swans and duck's nest at the waters edge,
Slumbering at night,
The calm and still of the water,
Is such a soothing sight.
The sound of little grasshoppers,
Chirping in the grass so green,
The smell of summers showers,
Beauty, calmness.. So serene.
The moon reflects in the water,
I lean over, a look I take,
I gasp in wonder and amazement,
The sky is reflected in the lake,
A complete mirror image,
Right before my eyes,
It's like a partnership on the earth,
Between the lake and the skies.
The sights I see before me,
As nature takes a rest,
Is the sights of absolute beauty,
Of the earth at its best.
