Another Great War

Another great war of man began
With all the worlds nations involved again
To finally settle once and for all
Mans future with an enemy so cruel

We stood together at dawn
And fought hard until next morn
We had covered much ground
Wounded and dead were scattered around

The enemy left no woman, child nor man
Our enemy was now here on our land
Ravaging villages, towns and cities
Upon these killing fields will be our victory

Onwards we battled with pride
Victory was now in our sights
Our leader was very brave
Fighting strong and fierce all night and day

Many brave soldiers had fallen
Over bodies we had fought on
Smell of death and fear in the air
With gunpowder, mud and blood soaked tears

At last victory was in our sights
After many long hard fought nights
The leaders were finely matched
First swords then hand to hand combat
2 blows to heads and they both fell
"Victory is ours" someone yelled

Many years have now since passed
Often we sometimes look back and ask
What lessons were taught and learned
When the worlds enemies almost destroyed the earth

But we now live in perfect peace and harmony
Honouring those who fell from our armies
Fighting for freedom with great courage
The ultimate sacrifice for offspring
With pure love in our hearts we did win

Over

Across turbulent seas and more so land. Foxholes dug into barren ground. Sleeps awake when fear allows. Woken by hellish sounds. Flash bang and tracer fire. Fly by wire reinforcements.

The War Outside

For every drop of blood that falls. A million tears we shed. With every single bullet fired. Our hearts are filled with dread. With every single day at war. We fear for who is next.
