Moonlight beam,
Sunlight sheen,
Raindrops changed the mood.
Clouds all black up above me now
Lightning terror screams echo out
I await in hidden shadows to prowl
'Till night unfurls the victims scene
Moonlight wolves stalk, so mean
Silence. Fog. Cold chill breaths.
Movement. Prey. Death.
We, my pack and I, feast in pure delight
Beneath the full moonlight
To our den we go before sunlight
Raindrops. Rainbows. Winter snow.
Clouds. Thunder. Lightning. Footprints come and go.
Cyclical weather and seasons for feasting, birth and teaching.
Next year- the late seasons
Famine. Disease. Death.
Drought!
Should we, my pack and I, stay or go?
Will the moonlight reveal any clues?
Sunlight grow anything new?
Raindrops found in muddy pools, unused
Clouds scatter and disperse from view
We follow the stars and magnetic pulls
Mountains. Canyons. Vast lakes. Open plains. Jungle and desert terrain.
Our will to survive and hunger never falls
Following the dried river bed too the sea
Where the moonlight bleeds into the sunlight for all too see
Raindrops form in clouds that drench me
My pack and I are free
Free to roam and hunt
Free to breed and overpopulate
Freed by the pull of the currents and the moonlight beam, gravity
Free to bask in the soaring sunlight beneath flourishing trees
Free to bathe in the raindrops falling from clouds we need
Until.....
A lone alpha male calls time and threatens my pack and me
The fight never ends
Chaos in nature starts all over again
Scattered bones fill up on the ghost highway
Vultures smile but give no thanks for their easy prey
