It's easy to become complaisant in the face of familiarity
Some things are done and said in the name of popularity
It's the little things from special ones that separates them from humanity
To continue on when often love can seem one sided and pointless
As the weight of all the world and reasons to stay seem so pointless
Fighting for what must seem like a lost cause so courageous
Still you stand firm in your love that saves us
You see it's the little things we do to show that we care
We appreciate and love and miss when a loved one is not there
To carry the burden and lighten the load that we all do share
Isn't it easier to say "thank you", "yes please", "I'm sorry" or "that's very kind of you my dear?"
Because something appears to be familiar does not always make it right
And because someone seems to have given up doesn't mean they've given up without a fight
For loving someone's ways and habits when you have love in your sights
And only having respect and manners when you're "only after one thing" in bed at night
Doesn't make up for being complaisant during the daylight
