The End Isn't Nigh

Raindrops frozen in time
Suspended in mid air
He knew not of any crime
Stalking the land with due care

The scene was paused and troubled
No sun, no sounds, no light
The city was war torn, rubbled
Scorched and blackened night

He continued dazed and confused
Void of memories and time misused
His body was bloodied and sore
Yells silent, smells violent, fell to floor.

Tears of blood fell from face
Extinct was the human race
Slumped down to his knees
He begged and he pleads
Why have you forsaken?
Why I, have you not taken?

Movement
Sound
Cracks in ground

Earth divides and parts
Gaping holes and it starts
Sea of fire and it bursts
Smoke rises up at first

A figure forms in the swirls
Rising higher as it twirls
Looking down upon him said
"You are the last of your kind,
You are of a great peculiar mind,
I challenge you now to find
A way to end your death in blind."

Slowly rising to his feet
Arms out at his sides
He knew he would defeat
As he looked the demon in its eyes

He closed his and he said,
"You have no power over me here
For I have already been dead
I have already banished all my fear
Be gone with your foolish test
Be gone, be free too rest."

He opened up his eyes
Smiling but with no surprise
A daydream or a vision
Either way he made his decision
Live his life how he wants too
Knowing the path he will choose
