Lost

Standing in the rain I skipped a stone across the rainbow,
Upon opening the book I saw you dance across the page.
Colors warm and time begins to slow,
Trying hard to cross the bridge, but the toll collector demands his wage.

I have journeyed through time and stood on the shore,
With clocks ticking, time slipping and pages turning.
I have mourned the passage of each day, sweeping past ideas of war,
I carry on, but in my soul there is such a yearning.

Traveling but not yet moving, moving but not yet traveling,
Motions of linear waste bring forth their putrid stench.
Walls closing in, personal worlds unraveling,
Lovers begin to dance and ease their lustful quench.

I've crossed the stream to where you now are,
Standing, out of time, in between with so many taken detours.
Against you now, I can feel you warmth, so close and yet so far,
Realizing now that you were my best friend, even though I wasn't yours.

Sometimes you just have to jump in, even alone.................. "What is waiting for me in the direction I don't take? "
