I made you take the plunge and you dive, dive dived.
And now it's my turn next so I'll run and hide.
I made you fly and I watched you glide.
Heavy are the chains that keep me locked inside.
I made you sail and you rode the tide.
But I touch the water and I slip and slide.
Bumpy is the road that I must ride.
Frayed are the threads that keep me tied...
I showed you the way, you spread your wings and flew.
My feet are planted on the ground and stuck with glue.
I gave you a canvas and a perfect picture you drew.
I'm painting over cracks, I'm done, I'm screwed.
You traded out the old for something new.
I traded all I have to give to you.
Your fingers touched the sky and you broke through.
We walked on the surface before I fell through.
Blurry are the truths that I once knew...
I made you tall and you stood and fought.
You managed to escape but I got caught.
I said go searching and so you sought.
I'm still searching, I'm lost in thought.
I said play the long game, and the game you brought.
I joined the game, my play was short.
Exhausted are the things that I was taught...
I said find the things that we both lack.
And so you flew away with a holdall packed.
I hear you've arrived. So stay on track.
Keep flying little birdy...
Don't look back.
