I was reading the reviews in the app store and couldn't agree more:
"Sadly it seems to be in the hands of pretentious children. the content here is unoriginal (often produced from elswhere) 'inspirational' shallow, badly written and entirely uninteresting"

"A lot of the content at first are just old, overused jokes, well known quotes and the whining of children"

I know this will instantly get drowned out by the 40-a-day users but if you are reading this take notice. Make others aware that this app has potential to be great. Why can't people post their own material and use the app as a creative outlet?

For this reason I have made a decision to try to use only my material; original material.

I hope in reading this slowly the app will become what it was designed to be.
Thank you

I create my own stuff but post ooutside quotes if they cracked me up or were meaningful to me and i seem to be getting good responses, although i agree with what you are saying

All my stuff is my own I'm happy to say

I agree with @TommyWalsh and I have a pretty healthy balance of quotes that move me, and original material.

@TommyWalsh I do regard you as one of the creatives. This was more a wake-up call to everyone. As an aspiring writer I hoped this app would be useful to gain advice and feedback on my work. My story "the blessed hollow" was the one I was hoping to get feedback from

@AlexMurray Have u started it yet cos if u have i will read it

@Lyceumo @glensaggs @TommyWalsh I'm glad guys. I would like it (if you agre of course) to help others realise this. And to round up the non-creatives, I don't want to use the words "set them straight" the have complete freedom of speech but gently nudge them onto "the path" (you could say)

@TommyWalsh yeah it's one of my erlier Opusses, thanks by the way ☺

@AlexMurray thanx :)

@AlexMurray I believe there is no harm in posting a brilliant qoute if u feel the connection. Like TommyWalsh, I do post words that come to my heart to share, but at the same time when I get inspired by someone else's qoute I feel like sharing that too.

@wayekan Agreed. A brilliant quite is worth posting. But it's when people use this like Facebook. Not literature but statuses. That is what really annoys me

I think it's the ranking thing. People want to be at the very top all the time, so they spam quotes and stuff

@skullyhop I suppose, they should really remove the ranking

@AlexMurray As you identified, the USP of Opuss is that you can share 'beautiful' words with people that love the written word. As I mentioned in a previous post 'Tl;dr', I don't think that many people would read a post over 1000 words (I've posted three articles 1000 words+). Having said this, there is no rule that says that you can't post ever inane thought and tired clichè. The power rests with you to unfollow people who you find uninteresting. I think that this will be a long process, but over the next few months I hope to trim the people that I follow so that I have rich, original content on my feed.

@Lyceumo I think you have the best idea. So far. And with this I will follow through. Unfollowing those without interesting and valued posts

The ranking is farcical. I checked the person who at number three...over 400 opusses, including such gems as 'the only make-up that I wear is a smile!'

@AlexMurray I feel you

@wayekan sorry?

@AlexMurray As in I agree with your comments about people using this like Facebook

@wayekan ah ok

Thank you all for your contributions. I would love to stay and chat but being the night before a new term sleep is imperetive. So good night to you all :)

I've only just joined Opuss, so I'm still trying to work my way round it. But somehow I stumbled onto your profile, and when I read your bio I was so shocked! It could've been my own, it's crazy how much I could relate to you...Anyway,I agree. Original content is the best content

i do not have anything against people who post and repost others' words. as long as they mention where or from whom they got it from. i want to know at least the name of the artist i am admiring. i value their ideas so it's important to me that i know who they really are. similar to as i want to know the feedbacks on my work, so i want to be followed by people who actually like my work. my posts are mine unless otherwise stated.

@imaverybasicgirl small world eh :)

@AlexMurray Definately. I hope to encounter many other people like you :)

@Lyceumo too-shay :-D my thought exactly!

@octopuss has come up with a wonderful idea. Opuss could add a 'unique' button to the categorisation, which you could push if you are publishing you're own stuff. That way, you can filter out bob Marley quotes and one direction lyrics by pressing 'unique only' on your feed.

Agree with all...I post only unique

@Lyceumo love that :) "unique" button

@AlexMurray I agree...I only post quotes I found inspirational and really want to share but some things people post again and again and it just gets boring. However I found that instead of liking and commenting my original work, the majority of people

*aah stupid phone! Anyways most people just comment on my quotes when it's really te original work I would like feedback for! Word are beautiful...if only people learn to craft them for themselves!

@AlexMurray couldn't agree more :) people who just copy other people's work aren't worth following, and I hope many of them read this and become embarrassed because they're ruining the app :)

I agree 100%! All my stuff is my own...and I absolutely adore yours. 💚

@blingey123 thank you ❤ always nice to see a fan
