"Don't leave me" I whispered, tearing up. She was too weak to talk, too weak to lift her head or even look me in the eyes.
"Please, Sasha, please don't do this. Not now. You've got so much to fight for" I cried.
She looked at me now, with her cold blue eyes.
"Please, Sasha." I cried. "Please"
A lonely tear escaped her eye and travelled slowly down her face. "Don't forget me"
I nodded fiercely until she took my chin in her weak hand and forced me to look at her.
"I'll be." She whispered. "I'll be with the stars."
Tears streamed down my face and most hit her hand before falling onto the sheets.
"I won't forget you. Ever" I managed through the hiccups.
She smiled weakly. "I don't doubt you will" then she sighed and took my hand in hers.
"I love you, Em" She said before closing her eyes.
"You too" was the last thing I could manage before the tears poured down my face. I couldn't let go of her limp, lifeless hand. I couldn't move my gaze from her beautiful sleeping face.
It was like that her mum found us seconds later, Sasha gone and me weeping while holding her pale hand. Her mum must have known, must have sensed it, because she came in crying. But she still broke down in the doorway, crying for her little girl.
We both cried until the numbness came, like an endless rain that just ...
Stops.
