Chapter 5 - Air Slap
------------------------

When I finally got back to school, Sasha was a nervous wreck, but I was fine.
"Stop stressing." I smiled.
Sasha was indifferent. "I'm not."
I laughed. "Liar"
She grinned. "Okay, maybe a little" She laughed.
"I'll be fine."
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"Yes, mum." I huffed then laughed as the first bell rang. We were already outside our lesson so we didn't have to go in yet. That's when Laura walked past us. She stopped and turned, coming back to stand before me.
"What did I say?" She asked, completing her sneer with a hand on her hip.
"About what?" I asked. "What did you say?"
She glared at Sasha then looked at me. "I can get you better friends." She said slowly.
I smiled. "Oh, I remember now. It has been difficult remembering things since you got those boys to beat me up, Laura." I replied.
It took her a while before she realised I was joking around with her.
"Your memory is fine." She finally said.
"They don't call you speedy for nothing." I smiled then winked.
Laura's face twisted in confusion before she made an awful face as if she had just been slapped. She walked quickly away and when she turned the corner, Sasha turned to me.
"Air slap." She smirked then slapped the air. And just like that, we were in tears.

Chapter 6 - February 27th
---------------------------------

It was weeks after I was beaten up when Sasha finally plucked up the courage to tell me her secret.
It was just a normal February night. Cold and windy. It was a Saturday and the moon was bright, it was casting a light veil over the dark sky. I hadn't known at the time but that night would stay with me for the rest of my life.
I remember what I was wearing that day. Dark blue jeans and a grey tank top with converses. I was wearing a long black jacket and a long black and white scarf. Sasha was wearing baggy light blue jeans, a long sleeved black top and her multicoloured hat. She wasn't wearing a jacket or anything but she told me she wasn't cold.
We were sitting on the swings in the park near our houses. We were looking out at the view; the tiny houses, the cloudy sky, the moon and hills. All was silent, peaceful, and mine and Sasha's silence was comfortable. We had become such good friends in a couple of weeks that we found we were still comfortable if we sat in silence. It was like we were meant to be friends.
"I found out on this day last year so I wanted you to find out today too." Sasha said, suddenly.
I looked at her, uttered the word, "What?" but she didn't look at me.
There was a strange look on her face, twisted, but I couldn't see what was making it that way.
"This time last year I was sitting here and my mum was sitting where you are. She told me that the hospital rung earlier that day with the results of my blood test." Sasha sighed, a lone tear falling, before she continued. "They told my mum that I had leukaemia. I did the usual, had chemo and eventually lost my hair. Laura said I had nits and had to cut my hair off. Soon everyone believed her. I never told anyone the truth and I never want to. In December they said the medication wasn't working. Yesterday I was told I have a month to live." Sasha said.
I looked down at my hands, they were laying on my legs, and it was all going through my mind. Sasha had just told me that she was dying. I was concentrating on trying not to cry so much that I hadn't noticed when Sasha started talking again.
"I wanted to do so many things before I died." She was saying.
I looked up now. Towards the hills, towards the rest of the world. They had no clue what was going on. They didn't know what was going on in this little park on this cold night. They didn't know.
What I heard myself saying didn't shock me, I was being a good friend, "you still will." It was a weak whisper. I was hoping to sound strong, or at least stronger, for her.
"No, not for me." She disagreed.
"I'll help you." I said, looking at her. Sasha looked up at me, tears falling down her cheeks, them shook her head.
"We'll make a list." I said. "A bucket list."
