Smells Like Teen Spirit. (Chapter 1)

I grimaced as the early sunlight hit my eyes through the shades across my room. I got up slowly and looked at the alarm, 6:31 a.m. I quickly left my room and went straight to the bathroom. I looked terrible. I had bags under my eyes from not enough sleep, my hair was a mess, and I could see a zit forming on my forehead. Perfect. I went back to my bedroom and found the perfect outfit for today and went back into the bathroom and quickly took a short shower. When I was finished I went downstairs, into the kitchen to see my mom making breakfast already. I lived with just my mom because my mom and dad got a divorce just 2 months ago. It's still hard on my mom, she hasn't been her normal self but, she wasn't the only 1 affected by the divorce. I was too, being only 15 and having to deal with your parents splitting up is a hard thing to get through but I'm tough.
"Good morning, Mom. How are you?"
"I'm fine Annie. Stop worrying about me."
"I'm sorry, it's just.." My mom cut me off.
"The divorce. I know, it's ok honey. Everything is going to be ok." She said with a reassuring smile.
My mom sat eggs on the table so, I sat down and ate. When I was done, I went upstairs to my room and got my phone. I texted my best friend, Becca.

Are we still on for Shopping today? -Annie

Of course!! -Becca

Ok perfect, what time?-Annie

I'll pick you up in an hour. -Becca

When I was done texting Becca, I sat down my phone and jumped on the couch. I turned on the t.v with the remote and just watched t.v until I heard a knock at the door. I got up and answered it.

"Finally, I haven't seen you in forever it seems!!" I said as I pulled Becca into a hug.

"Annie, I saw you yesterday at school."

"I know it's just...I missed you!!!!"

"Well, it's going on 10am. We better leave if you want to get at least 4 hours of shopping in."

"Ok. You're right let's go."

"Mom, I'm leaving!" I called out as I shut the door behind me.

I jumped in the passengers seat of Becca's convertible, while Becca jumped into the drivers seat and started the engine. Becca put the car in drive and pumped the gas.We were off for a full day of shopping!

'I'm home.' I called out to the empty hallway as I kicked my shoes off and dropped my bag to the floor. A gorgeous smell wafted from the kitchen, which could only mean one thing.
