Put in time, effort,
Hours, I'm guessing,
To be different, an individual,
How do you all end up
Looking the same,
Clones of a high-street mannequin,
Manicured into oblivion,
Hair, blonde, back combed
Into a monstrous up-do,
Skin a shade of orange
A satsuma would be proud of,
Tights and short shorts,
Even though it's baking hot,
A sweater with Jack Wills
Or Hollister printed on,
Your outfit probably
Cost more than a weeks wage,
But that's ok because you
Get your self worth from
Your designer clothes,
Don't need to have an
Original wardrobe,
Let alone an original thought,
It's a shame that you've become
More plastic than the mannequin
Your look was based on.

Nah, you're spot on hunny. Out shopping today I saw three teenage lads with manicured hair and scrubbed up shoes and they all had the same hollister t-shirt on. At least buy a different shirt! Looked like bloody triplets... 👍❤❤😂💋
@leelee101 I know! It's like the new middle-class preppy look. It's annoying. Well I'll never understand, I was the only goth in my school (probably my whole town) when I was a teen. But it's a teenage thing, right? To be in some sort of group, whether popular or subculture. It's that deep sense of needing to belong that overwhelms most teens own ideas about what they like!
@Irrational_Kimmi it just annoyed me that they didn't even have the stones to actually make a choice instead of just following. Grrrr... Rant over! 👍❤❤💋
@leelee101 thing is I've got no problem with anyone dressing how they want, but these kids are just buying a (overpriced) label to fit in. And I think kids place so much emphasis and meaning on what they look like these days, they forget to actually have their own personality 😒
@naaviie woo for hippies! I'm a hippy at hear but my look is...well, me. Mainly 50's inspired dresses or sometimes flares and vests like I'm from the 70's 😊
I love this piece, but I wear Hollister all the time and other stuff too, and I'm sure that doesn't make me a Mannequin! 😂 everyone has their own opinion. Great poem though. 😊 👏👏

Biting commentary. On a side note, I come from Santa Barbara where the famed Hollister Ranch surfing spot is.
Love the sentiment here. I could rant for hours about the waste of money and time devoted to fashion.
