Papa

Not my work, my friend wrote this for his Dad, who died on 13th November. I thought I would share it.

~

You can stay up dad
I won't be a burden on you
We'll watch an old movie from when you were younger
And you can tell me the ending too soon

Cause you knew it all
You knew just what to do
And when I got taller
I still looked up to you

An ale for a beggar
And a whiskey, before bed
I made a habit to tell you
Never under my breath

You were always my father
Right down to the end
But I am proud to have called you
My friend.

You can stay up dad
I won't be a burden on you
We'll watch this old garden grow again, soon!

"Who New" (by P!nk)

You took my hand. You showed me how. You promised me you'd be around. Uh huh. That's right. I took your words. And I believed. In everything. You said to me. Yeah huh. That's right.

To You Who Is Still In My Heart

You know, I could hardly help it. You were there, and now you're not. Unspoken words and sidelong glances, Your presence gone left a missing friend. I'm not a person from the perfect songs.

What He Had

As he watched the glare of the sun on the water, he listened to the once sweet melody of the lapping waves against rocks. His heart going through an excruciating battle.

When you were here. Back at the start. You held me near. And you had my heart. When cold you'd be my heater. You'd just hate my toes. You'd always warm me. And with your lips you'd warm my nose.
