Have you looked in a mirror today? How many more times do you think you will today? Was there something you didn't like about yourself? Was it worth it?
In an assembly something called a 'Mirror Fast' was brought to my attention. Basically, people cover up, avoid, or dispose of all (yes ALL) mirrors that they might come in contact with on a day to day basis. Somebody managed to do this for a year.
The logic behind it is that we waste WAAAY too much time constantly assessing how we look. Is it how we want ourselves to look? Is it how we want others to see us? Is it normal? Would I be accepted? You get the picture. Some research tells us that this is not a healthy ordeal to put ourselves through day after day, far from it. Somebody who tested this for a month proclaimed that she was able to focus so much more on other aspects of her life and felt so much more confident. She went on to say that she felt much more laid-back; it was like a great burden had been lifted.
I think this is a great idea. Just for one day, once a year perhaps, we should all make the sacrifice.
What wonders could it do to your life?
