We trek till a blizzard starts up again suddenly, the wind pelting our faces. My feet have been flayed by the tumbling rocks and my socks are in tatters now. Zay's feet are bleeding and I can see him wince every time we have to climb a boulder. He finally trips and collapses, unmoving when I bend down to shake him, urging him to keep going. He groans something I can't understand, and I sit down and huff, laying my head on his shoulder.

I feel like I have slept for days, because when I wake up, sun is beating down on me and pine trees are looming far above me, the sunlight shining through the branches. Zay is sleeping beside me, his chest rising with each deep breath he takes. I scramble up and turn around, wondering if I'm in heaven. Heaven is a MUCH better place than the Wild, of course. I run over to one of the trees, shimmying up the trunk and grabbing onto any branches in arm's length. The needles brush against my face, tickle my nose, and I laugh. I don't even wonder why I'm here and sit on one of the sturdy branches, looking down at the rich soil on the ground.
"Hey! What are you doing up there?" I hear a shout and look down at Zay, who's craning his neck to look up at me. I giggle, a complete laughing mess. I climb up further and look out at all the fields surrounding us. I climb back down and jump to the rest of the 5 feet to the ground, falling on my butt. Pain shoots through to my throat and I swallow hard, but I just laugh again and look at Zay, who I guess caught my laughing fit. He smiles and tells me he carried me all the way till he found this spot, secluded from the Wild in a valley. I look at him like he's a miracle and he offers some berries to me. I grab one and swallow, juice squirting into my mouth and flavor exploding on my taste buds. I take another little berry, blue, and throw it up in the air, catching it perfectly with my mouth. They taste like pure sugar and syrup, and now I take a whole handful popping them one by one in to my mouth, enjoying every second of the flavor. My stomach growls and I feel a sharp pain in my abdomen. I collapse, a sickly feeling filling my stomach. "Gemi!" I hear Zay shout, but it sounds distant. A blob appears in my blurry vision, but soons disappears as I lose consciousness.
