I walked into the library for my free period, looking for any familiar face.
Period one and three were my new frees, which was pretty different from last semester.
I almost had to pinch myself when I noticed Jason standing near the cubbies with his backpack on.
"He cannot have this free. That's just not...no. No."
I hurried to a table, too shy and too freaked out to say hi.
Later, Sally popped into the library and asked me if I wanted to accompany her to the nurse.
I agreed, and stayed with her for about ten minutes. I told her about seeing Jason.
"Oh yeah, I saw him, too," she smiled. "When I walked in. At least I think it was him."
"I wonder if he has this free..."
Sally went back to class and I went back to the library. As soon as I was in, I saw him. He was at the way back, by the window. The sunshine was glinting off of his brown hair, and he was reading something on his phone.
My legs COMPLETELY started moving on their own. I found myself walking all the way to the back of the library, and stopping next to him.
He looked up, and those green eyes sparkled as he smiled.
"Oh, hey," he said.
"Hey," my voice was casual, and masked my nervousness perfectly.
"You have a free right now?" I asked.
"Yeah, I do," he replied, still smiling.
"Do you...always have a free this period?"
If the answer was yes...I honestly didn't know what I'd do.
"Yup, I do, actually."
Oh my gosh.
"M-me too," I said, smiling.
He raised his eyebrows. "Really?"
I nodded.
"Well..." He folded his arms over his chest. "This free just got very un-boring."
The bell signaling the end of the period rang.
My cheeks burned and I looked away for a second, flattered by his small comment. When I did, I noticed another grinning face approaching.
"Oh...hey Paul," I said.

Writing is my life. Forever. I want to be an author when I grow up. I write all the time. When I'm happy, sad, angry...it's an escape. Oh, and I love green hearts. I absolutely love them.
