we wrote it then,
why repost it again?
then people of that time
read it and maybe understood the rhyme,
is the repost a beg for likes?
we must read the old,
not "repost" that which has been cold.
we can write anew, breathe life into nonexistant words,
instead the feed is filled,
with wasted posts.
so now a collection,
filled with duplicates.
reposted for what?
not memory, for for that we can reread.
not happiness, for that in the act of writing we perceive.
not for others, for a simple request can make the other reread.
then why?
i do not believe in it.
i have nothing against others who do,
i just don't wish to do the same thing too.

When you have 10s of posts its easier to go through the back catalogue.. When you have 100s it's not. Also when you have 10s of followers your posts are often read by as many as later on when you have 100s of followers, at which point you may want to share pieces that didn't get the exposure first time round.. Finally the membership now has changed from a year ago and current members have probably missed many posts from a year ago, or at any time before they joined and are unlikely to trawl through what they missed.. Books are frequently reprinted or reissued, as are opusses
okay. you mean to say by reposting your own work, people who haven't seen it can. but then why is it we do not have the option to repodt? it is just cus the makers and preservers of opuss know that likes and popularity dont matter her. jut words. when you post something not everyone sees it. so do you keep reposting it a hundred times and tag the "100"s of followers? no. we don't.similarly the repost. that's my logic, though i cannot say ur wrong either :-) . if with conviction, one doesnt need to condescend. when one has to mention a comparison betwwen the number of posts and follower of one and the listener, it screams condescension. i have nothing against any of you who do, some of my close friends do so too. im simply, sharing my reason for not doing so :-)
Opuss is a beautiful community where people express their feelings and emotions by writing. Some write poems, others write stories, some people simply write blogs or open diaries. If someone likes their post and feels that it it worth other people reading, they should repost it. Opuss, unlike Facebook etc, is not about getting the most likes, it is about being free, being you, being a writer. It is unfair to say it is for likes as it probably isn't. Just my opinion.
@finalseconds i only saw your reply by chance, better to tag me so I know you've replied. I don't know why we can't repost our own work at a touch of a button, maybe the owners could look into. As for the owners not thinking popularity matters, think again - it was them that introduced the ranking system. However reposting an old piece has little or no bearing on rank. I am not being condescending by mentioning the reasons why I and other sometimes like to read and repost earlier pieces.. I was simply stating the facts behind why I have done it and referring to when I only had 10s of posts and followers. Hardly condescending one, is it?
@sian_ i meant your own works :-) i love reposting other people's works ! it is one of the best parts opuss!
@burrfoot as I said I have absolutely nothing against those who do it. there may just be a great reason for it hich i have no idea of! but i just have tnis feeling that opusses of then are for the then-ness. :-P
@finalseconds First of all thank you for reposting my repost! I understand your point of view and if anyone does it for the likes or ranking then I think that's sad, but to show newcomers a work that you are proud of is harmless I think. Anyway maybe you'll feel different about it when you've been here a year (which I hope you will be!) ππβ
It's just some fun and a way of allowing new opussians the chance of reading established contributors' earlier works without having to trawl for hours through their back catalogue. It's not for likes or anything. I like it, I get to see works I've missed.
Thanks for reposting my repost too. I appreciate what you say but I have to say that I agree with @TheCodsPollocks and the others! βΊ
@leelee101 @thecodspollocks @crowncottage As I said, I've been uncovering some great writes throu these seld reposts so dont believe that they're bad :-) just that i felt filling opusses more than once or twice with reposting the same opusses is a waste of creatvivity.anything in its limits is great :-D
