An old favorite flashed
Across the memory
As time goes by; Casablanca
What a strange city
I find me in again
Twirling to the chancy laitmotif

The iridescent reflections
Hanging on my hollow fences,
Creating a mirage of youthful redolence
The delight of my senses,
Comes and goes
My seat of emotions waltzing in days of yore

Suddenly, a feeling of fragility
Sweeps over me
The static cling has come alive,
Crawling up on me all silent, menacing like sting ants
Frisking me, emptying my sack of bliss
Memories soar;

The days he couldn’t spend
The cold nights I longed,
For more than a wiggling worm,
A soul mate to soothe my cravings
Today, he comes alive
In my hoar

So sad I have no image
Of him except the mental ones
Of yore I took with my bare eyes.
But what do eyes know of
What the memories capture?

Many good things, time the invisible
Sliding snake has touched
Love remains timeless still,
And reverberates through my soul,
Plunged in a whimsical stupor,
Memories came flying out,

Redolent of youthful scenes,
His face, his touch, kisses
And the beguiling smile, I miss
The chills sweeping over me,
The torrent, sans foghorn,
Clearing my muzzy eyes,

Like the cascading Niagara,
Meandering through the rocks.
In this murky chasm of fathomless misery,
I wonder what he looks like now
My reflection’s changed a bit,
Indeed time went by, the Casanova,

Like a ship slipping the moorings,
Sauntering into the ocean,
He was always on the run.
I wonder, if he’s found a place to sojourn,
I wonder, if my most intricate lover,
Has found the cord to finally,

Jolt his cold heart.
