Empty Household

Household is dead. It died ages ago when people stopped using household items as the subject and people got tired of writing poems about windows and bookshelves. I got quite bored reading entries too. They were always poems and after a while they got repetitive and dull (although there were some exceptions if course).

@blindsilence hmm good point. I think the idea was to use the object in an imaginative way, and it worked fine when it started out but as you say using non household items was quite possibly the start of the rot. As I said tho, it's not my place to just do away with it, need to gauge opinion first. Cheers for that 👍

Agree with @blindsilence but then isn't that part of the challenge to think outside the box and put a different take on things I enjoy the challenges but some words or themes inspire more than others 😊

@sjw correct. But don't you get the feeling that people just can't be bothered to think outside the box? That's why I chose a slightly different word, and asked for a limerick. No point in a challenge if it doesn't challenge! 👍

@leelee101 not been on here long enough to know about the challenges but wanted to repost so you get more thoughts from those who have been involved!

No point in flogging a dead horse my sweet...it was a blast...from my perspective I'm too busy to do them everyday that's why I love the weekly challenge...and I'm sure another fantastic idea will come out of it...farewell household...it's been wonderful 👏✨👏

Just catching up on all this. I agree- I think it died a long time ago. I lost interest when words were being repeated. And I also agree many don't think outside the box. Just my opinion. 😔 Evening ☕

@misslittleDHP Yep, daily / bi-daily is a bit too frequent for me too. But also, I keep bloomin missing them!! (challenges that is) - Can't seem to keep up with them all to search them either... Anyone got a basic up to date list of current challenges?? (and I agree also with those who've said that the household challenge got quite repetitive and sometimes completely 'un-householdy'!!)
