Everything you are is at odds with you
Say you hate the old but you're scared of the new
Decisive in your mind, your head sits on the fence
Enter with a swagger but no confidence
Lay the best laid plans then never see them through
You're not lazy, but procrastination will always do
You look into the past and wish that you were there
When your future and the present hold the ones that care
Rosy tinted glasses are all very well
Just remember that your past life was a living hell
No need for self pity, but with feelings deep
Your humanity forgives you for that little weep
Let the first man cast the stone, he who is free from sin
One thing stands above and that's the good within
Look into the mirror, your reflection shows
A strong and decent man throughout the highs and lows
Yes, everything you are is at odds with you
A mass of contradictions? That's not nearly true
Next time you're reflecting, come and read this letter
Look upon your note to self, for no-one knows you better
By choice or by design you are who you are
Ignore the mirrors voice, you know more by far
We all have faults and flaws, it's the way we're built
No need to chastise, there's no need for guilt
Reach out for the stars but beware the fall
Just remember you're only human. Aren't we all?
