Peace

Coolness as I close my eyes
Freshness comes as a surprise
Welcome break from stifling heat
Take the weight from aching feet
Afternoon will just roll on
At least the bloody headache's gone
At least for now some brief respite
A chance to feel, a chance to write
Allow myself the briefest smile
If only for a little while
Empty mind of feelings low
It'll take me where I want to go
Sitting under trees at sway
Keeping uncle Bob at bay
Thankful for this sweet release
It's nice to have a moment's peace...
