And besides why would anyone want to cook this up in the first place? You can see how it's snowballed. Why would anyone in their right mind want to create such a horrible thing?

@silas_phillipson when I first heard about it, and thought it was genuine, I made a flippant joke about it. Upon reflection that was wrong. Now I know the truth it's beyond any justifiable joke.

I never said that I was involved in starting this, and I agree with you that what people are doing is horrible. All I'm saying in defence of the people who started the "joke" - because it was a joke - is that all they were doing was editing a few photos of people cutting themselves, and making it look like they did it because of Bieber. The people who are trying to "get on the wave" by joining in the cutting, are victims of misunderstanding, and I feel sorry for them

I do not misunderstand you unfortunately. This was not a joke. It was an orchestrated campaign designed to influence vulnerable children to self harm.. And then laugh at them (funny huh?). The 4chan site has bred this type of scum stunt before and should be locked down

@silas_phillipson I wouldn't say anything in the 'defence' of these jokers - they knew what they were doing. They used graphic images of self harm to manipulate impressionable teens into cutting. How that could ever been considered a 'joke' is beyond me. The intent of it was to cause harm. No defending that I'm afraid.

I'm sorry everyone, all I know of this is what my friend told me. This discussion is also making me feel uncomfortable, so I'm not going to take it any further. Again, I never saw any I this for myself

But look at the tragic outcome. There's a likelihood that this will end the same way. And there won't be any joking then. Besides, what were they thinking trying to convince kids, because everyone knows that would be the majority of their audience, that people were cutting themselves? Isn't cutting, for whatever reason, bad enough? It's indefensible my friend. 😢😢

Im not sure i want to bring this up and im not sure if its true but i was told today by a friend at school that somebody died doing #cutforbieber. The only way i can see this stopping is if beiber himself does something about it. @silas_phillipson I know you were just giving more information but if what you say is true, your friend must be feeling guilty right now :/ . @mattreb10 I can only speak for myself when I say I'm not arguing, but expressing my disgust at the depths some trolls will sink. I hope you can understand that this was not some innocent joke that got out of hand. A group of individuals sat behind a computer screen, and allegedly faked photos of Bieber smoking a joint, so they could then start a hashtag, and post more fake photos of kids self harming, in an attempt to influence other children to do the same thing, but for real. That is not a joke and it should be something people are outraged and disgusted by. We can all write poems etc, but this is a community and we discuss issues on the real world too. We can and are doing better than that.

@mattreb10 I'm with @Burrfoot we're not arguing. It's just that the fella kept using the word joke, which I think is what got our backs up a little, and he didn't explain his position at first. We've been talking this issue through all day, there's no arguments going on. 👍
