It's such a hard thing to grasp,
The knowledge that you will not last,
Some hidden illness inside you,
Giving you that greenish hue,
I wonder why in sadness,
And put it all down to madness,
People must die, for others to live,
But for choosing you, I can't forgive,
It seems so unfair,
Why can't you always be there?
When that fateful day takes your soul,
My heart will blacken to coal,
I will not call you home,
For I know I've been left alone.
It took you from the inside -out,
Even in pain you wouldn't shout,
How can you be so calm?
As I read a verse from Psalm,
Take your hand in mine,
Hold tight and wish for a sign,
None will come.
There is no recovery,
No new saviour discovery,
No return to health,
Even when you laugh,
At my pretend stealth,
I ask for more time, or even a half,
But no prayer is heard,
All wishes are blurred.
I turn on your favourite song,
Knowing soon you will be gone.
I hope you pass safely,
You will fly bravely,
And I will always send my childish love,
Up to heaven on a pure, white dove.
