Your presence it hovers, the elephant in the room,
I sit silently while inside I fume.
You left my grandma, soon after you were wed,
All along you'd had another woman in bed.
My grandma was left carrying your child,
Lord only knows how she didn't go wild.
Didn't turn up for the birth of your Daughter,
Left her alone, a cow to the slaughter.
Left them alone to pursue your mistress,
Settled abroad, set up your business.
That was the last we heard for twenty years,
Before you showed up in my mothers deepest fears.
The truth is she went looking for you,
The lunch you had together, the time just flew.
She offered you an olive branch, a chance to start anew,
You must be scared of commitment because away you flew.
My mothers heart broken, she gave up on you,
Do you care what you put her through, if only you knew.
Now that I am older, the full story told,
I can see that your heart must be icy cold.
We lost track of your whereabouts, last seen in France,
Too late now we gave you your chance.
I could have a half aunt or uncle too,
Half cousins unknown we don't have a clue.
Do you ever stop to think,
what if you hadn't changed your life in a blink.
You don't even know that I'm here or exist,
Add that one to the never-ending list.
You don't deserve to meet me or my brother,
If you couldn't have been there for my wonderful mother.
Truth is that we are all better off without you,
You're just the grandpa, that I never knew.
