I arranged with Olivia to meet her at the shopping center so that we could buy our outfits for the end of year party. It was a pool party, so we needed to buy some light summery clothes to go over our bikinis.
'Amelie over here.' Olivia trilled, waving excitedly. I rushed over and gave her a hug. She linked her arm through mine and we walked towards our favorite shop. 'did you know that Sophie and Jamie kissed.' she squealed. I abruptly let go of her arm, 'what!' I said shocked. 'who kissed who.' I stammered. 'well Sophie said that she's been in love with your brother for years and that she kissed him to see what would happen.' she said. 'I don't want to know.' I said cringing and covering my ears. Olivia giggled and pulled me into the shop. I picked out a navy frilly bikini and a floaty green dress to go over it.
As soon as I got home I rushed upstairs to my brothers room where he sat on his bed listening to music. I yanked the headphones out of his ears. He started to protest but I cut him off, 'you kissed Sophie, Olivia's sister.' I stated. A light rosy colour smudged across his cheeks, 'hang on, hang on she kissed me.' he said still smiling. I put on my most unimpressed face before breaking out into a smile. 'ah my baby brothers growing up.' I cooed, ruffling his hair. 'get off.' he chuckled playfully pushing me away with a grin on his face.
The final days of school past quickly. I got the marks I needed to get into the university that I wanted to go to and was excitedly preparing for the party. I grabbed my bag with my towel and spare clothes and skipped out the door.
When I arrived the whole place was flooded with people, some in the pool and some standing around chatting. There was music being played but you could only hear the base notes over the talking and laughing. I wandered around looking for either my Josh or Olivia. I grabbed a can of coke off the table full of drinks. I heard someone call my name and turned as Olivia barreled into me. 'you've godda try thiss.' she slurred holding out a bright blue cocktail with a mini umbrella in it. I gingerly took it from her and placed it down on the table, knowing that she had already had far to many of them. 'Olivia, do you know where Josh is?' I asked slowly as if speaking to a child. 'ummm.' she started before bursting out laughing, 'he was... I think... He was with Linsey.' she mumbled. I left her to go and look for Josh. A girl I knew vaguely from my class pulled me over, 'sorry I'm just..' I said quickly trying to pull away and get back to searching for Josh. Amelie you need to come with me. It's Josh and you're not going to like it.'
