A Watery Grave

The ocean is icy
Its embrace like a fist.
We dive into a blackness
I have tried to resist.

Foam pulling me under
I fight for a gasp
And all the while you escape from my grasp.

The tides are strong
The water deep.
It pulls me down deeper into a liquid sleep.

We're fighting the current
That taught us to swim,
Kicking my feet now
I don't want to give in.

Waves pull me under
They're dragging me to the bottom,
Where the world is wetter and all hope is forgotten...
