Honor For The Brave

I don't recall my death, just remember the screams,
dodging gunfire for real, not in heroic dreams.

I hope they remember me, I did what I thought was right,
It was on their behalf I took up this fight.

Honor in death, I gave to the cause,
All I ask in return is a remembered pause.

Many suffered my fate, to their homes they never returned,
Embrace from a loved one, is what I truly yearn.

You can forget my face, but please know my name,
I did this for freedom, not for any fame.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Dedicated to all those who gave their all, responding to freedom's call".
Happy Veteran's Day 2012.

I never met you, but miss you "Woody" Duffy. Died with honor at the "Battle of the Bulge", World War II.

Started writing poetry officially in 1991, enjoy reading Edgar Allen Poe, reading and dissecting the Holy Bible, and listening to beautiful/inspiring people. Age has no bearing on creativity. Some of the most beautiful things come from those of much lesser age and life experiences. So listen to those young people!

Remember Them.

For those who gave their lives away, And sacrificed everything each day, We will remember them. For those who go to the fierce war, And them who obey their law, We will remember them.
