She had a slight limp to her gait. Bruises were flowering on her arms - or, at least, the bits revealed when her sleeves pulled up. He was worried, and rightly so.
Damn it if he was going to stand by and watch silently this time. She was being tormented, for God's sake! What kind of person would he be if he didn't do something?
His palms were sweaty. He was blanketed in shame for not having taken action earlier. He didn't deserve to be a man. She was precious- so damn precious, and he was letting that shit of a husband beat her up!
He felt the heaviness cloud his heart, slipping into a quiet depression.

She looked at him pensively. "Are you alright?"
Nicke looked up and smiled tightly. She sighed inside. That was Nicke for you. Always cold and distant. He always had been, ever since she was a kid.
She wondered if he had even noticed the bruises she had formed after a nasty hiking accident. Sometimes she thought her father didn't even really care about her.
