God

The bible to me is full of contradiction,
Full of dos and donts and silly prediction,
Like the end of the world wasn't that last year?
Filling the population with hearts full of fear,
That didn't happen so they just moved the date,
This year in December these predictions I really hate,
An eye for a eye then love thy neighbour,
And this book is supposed to be about god our saviour,
He's certainly not mine,
Without him I do just fine,
If god was almighty,
Why is there poverty,
The answer is apparently free will,
But if god created us why the evil inside us still,
Apparently we were made in gods image,
So if we are evil maybe prisons our way of holy pilgrimage,
Or maybe not, maybe the stuff written is not true,
Just propaganda to help us when we feel blue,
And take the wrong direction in life,
Maybe sticking to the book will end our strife,
I think I'll just stick to my own moral code,
The law is better in my humble abode,
If its not legal it's not right,
I don't need to pray every night,
To someone who doesn't exist,
If my prayers weren't answered I'd be really pissed,
I hope this poem doesn't offend you,
It isn't meant to,
I have nothing against you if you are religious,
I have my own beliefs they are quite prestigious,
Those beliefs are I'm just me,
With the freedom to express my opinion you see,
You have your beliefs and ill have mine,
I suppose one day we will prove either way and that's just fine.
