A week before the summer solstice, a fire crackling merrily in the hearth and hot chocolate in hand, she sat down upon the sofa.....it was snuggly and warm and she started to drift off
Crash! Came the loud sound from outside, it was as though something had landed on her roof but what?
Taking the torch she decided to venture outside to take a look although she did feel slightly apprehensive, scanning the roof with her torch she gave a sigh of relief it was clear, she must've been dreaming.
She turned to go back into the house but stood and froze, she was sure she had closed the door behind her, so why was it slightly ajar.
She was always jumpy at this time of year Stonehenge was only a stones throw away from her and for some reason come nightfall it always spooked her out.
Tentatively she pushed open the door and stepped inside the house, "hello is anybody there?"
she realised this was a stupid thing to say as if anyone would reply.
"Beth, come and sit down." the last thing she was expecting was a reply! Fear gripped her, she could make out the figure of someone sitting in the chair.
"Don't be afraid, you should know why I'm here." he said in an oddly calming voice. Who was he and what did he want from her.
The scream left her mouth before it had even registered with her brain and in a split second he was beside her, his hand covering her mouth, "there's no need for that, Ive just come to collect what is mine, I won't harm you, not much anyway." he whispered in her ear.
He smelt of death and as he turned to face her she was greeted by the blackness of his eyes, she felt as though he could see into the depth of her soul.
He stepped back and gave her a knowing look she suddenly realised the only thing she was wearing was a transparent nightdress she suddenly felt very exposed and tried to cover herself, he seemed to be undressing her with his eyes and enjoying her shyness, "Please don't kill me." she pleaded.
"I have no intention of killing you Beth, your my chosen one." He said licking his lips. Chosen one! What the fuck was he talking about?
"You were promised to me from birth, eighteen years I've waited and watched you blossom it's now time for your fathers debt to be paid."
"But, I...." Her words were cut short.
"You people always do this, you really should think twice before making a deal with the Devil."
