Once upon a time...
Children in my house were neither seen nor heard
It was far too quiet and far too lonely
And made me very sad
No patter of tiny feet
No giggles to greet my day
Then came the magic time
Lots of help in all directions
A baby on its way!
How amazing, how very, very special, to feel a life inside
Safe and cosy warm
Nurtured and much loved
The day that he was born
And I became a mum
How blessed and loved I felt
That darling little person
My life had come to share
Much love and warmth he brought us
Here in this house of ours
we feel as though a fairy god-mother touched us with her wand
Then, a little later still
About two years in all
Another gift arrived
A beautiful baby daughter
A treasure to behold
How lovely and how sweet
Her face of delicate formation
A smile to tug your heartstrings
Her warmth and love so strong
Another piece of magic to add a touch of sparkle
So, now I know how lucky, how very very special
It is to hear their footsteps
Their laughter and their joy
All around our happy home
In the fabric of the walls
And in the kingdom of my soul
I am honoured to have my children
They have given me so very much
More than words can say
Of wisdom and of love
To be with them pure joy
So know you are very special, so loved and adored
You are lovely, wonderful children
And I thank you for being you
And for sharing a little part of you
With little old grateful me...
