Ice And Fire

Ice outside my window
Silent grip of iron
Creaking, cracking, groaning
An ancient, age old song

Swirls and whirls and ferns of frost
Sparkle in the moonlight
Every single drip and drop
Frozen like a tableau

Fire and warmth and crackling logs,
Glow with dragons breath
Comfy sofa, favourite book
Pot of tea beside my chair

Candles light the room so soft
And gentle with their glow
Warming, cosseting, safe and blanketing
Warmth from deep within

Ice and fire
Has always been
The perfect partner here

Pulchritude

Today has vowed a sky of cloud; a frivolous shroud: no daylight, or joy, or beauty allowed. Much of the day has wasted away in such a way, the birds, the people, have nothing to say.
