I've lived to breathe a thousand lies
Witnessed too many tsunamis in your eyes
Watched on helplessly as the world rushed us by
And time did heal in truth we cried
I've seen the queen all dressed in green
Heard of jealous hate from foreign heads of state
Watched on as my own child decides what is great
At times she played god with the ants 'til late
I've lived to see technology grow
Witnessed dial up Internet (oh so slow)
Watched on as spoilt brats put on a selfish show
At times they need the latest, smallest, fastest device to film a friend or foe
I've lived to eat too much processed meat
Witnessed too many homeless on our streets
Watched on hoping they get some nice warm sleep
At times I feel I'm the one who's incomplete
I've lived to share in your unconditional love
Witnessed you give more when I didn't give you enough
Watched on wondering if I've been too tough
At times I know I did push my luck
I've lived enough to know my own mind
Witnessed you become a mum for the 2nd time
Watching our kids growing up so fine
Yes, I've lived to witness and watched at times
