Age

With the passing of time,
Mirrors bring lies,
While age bring lines,
Oh it has seen my cries!
Lived years a plenty,
Happy and sad,
I feel like I am twenty,
Never old or aching bad.
In my prime,
Never worrying,
Of the passing of time.
Now at ninety my life,
Seems told,
I listen to the clock,
I begin to grow cold,
Tick, tock, toll!

I had my journeys,
Loved and lost,
Had needs and yearnings,
And crossed paths a lot.
Life isn't a sprint,
Never a stroll,
Takes a pace,
Only you control.
I have seen through,
Eyes of my own,
That life continues,
Even when alone.
As I prepare for,
My final sleep,
A deep slumber,
I beg you don't weep,
For child I have seen,
And I have heard, tasted and smelt,
I have had my adventures,
And I have dreamt!
Remember a mirror lies, Says you have wrinkles,
It always tries,
To lose that twinkle,
Youth is always in my eyes,
I always believed I would live and not die!
