Times are pretty good
wondering through the woods.
Loose mud and decaying leaves
beneath my aching feet.
Worms and insects burrow
tunnels, homes and supply roots.
Dead tree's fallen to hide the tears they cry,
leaning on old friends for support.
Wild vines wrapped up in time,
winding and spreading like natures disease;
Survival of the fittest?
Maybe great opportunists?
Animal and bird sounds carry on the wind.
Down this trail I'm walking along,
I partake and whistle their song.
A woodpecker smashes it's head.
Daffodils dance in the flower beds.
Parakeets join in with our tune,
Foxes, rabbits and squirrels too.
Branches wave and bow as I pass.
I tip my hat with a smile that lasts.
A love and pure joy fills me
with natures wonderful energies,
In this rare oasis hiding in my city.
