Since about Wednesday, I've had difficulty sleeping. This may sound quite cliche and even pathetic, but my best friend had left me when he said he'd never leave and I trudge on everyday hoping he'll keep that promise. Last night, I surprisingly had managed to fall asleep quickly. At first it was just a normal little dream where I was watching my cousins while everyone was at some party. I had just put them to bed in my room. Then, I walked down a dark hallway to our guest bedroom to stay there. The room had an assortment of boxes and sheets covering some of the furniture. I "remembered" taking the sheets off of the bed and a small dresser. At that same dresser, I was brushing my tangled hair when I felt warm, slim hands around my wrists and gentle breathing on my neck. The mirror was dusty and the man's face was buried in my hair so all I did was sit in silent fear. Then, I heard that voice I loved so much. The one that always told me to sleep well and dream sweet. The one whose "I love you"s would feel like a silky caress against my skin. I shuddered as his breath gently brushed my neck. He whispered to my hair
"I promised I'd stay."
Even in dreams did I feel the tears silently drip down my sleeping face. In dreams I cried as well. In dreams my hands brushed his soft hair, his defined face, his long and slim fingers, his lips that whispered so many sweet words. In dreams he came back to hold me in his arms. In dreams he promised to stay forever and never let go. In dreams the distance of 1832 miles shortens to just those measly centimeters. In dreams is when I have my best friend again.
