When I Have A Kid

When I have a kid, we say after a fight as a child, I won't make her eat her vegetables, I'll let her eat sweets all day, and give her all she wants.
When I have a kid, we say after a fight as a teenager, I'll let her stay up late and go out with her friends and trust her and let her date who she thinks is right for her.
When I have a kid, we say when pregnant, I'll make her eat her vegetables, I won't let her eat sweets all day, because I want her to be healthy and happy, I won't let her stay up late, because of school in the morning, and I won't let her party with friends, not because I don't trust her, but because I don't trust others around her. I'll trust her always when she says promise unless she lies. I'll keep her from those magazines saying what is beautiful and what isn't, because they aren't right and most of it is photoshopped. I'll remind her every day what beautiful is, and never hide the truth from her. And I'll protect her from men who will hurt her.
Funny how things change over time, huh?

I Care

#acorn. As I mature in age I notice. A tendency not previously there. More time now spent growling. Like a sore headed bear. Little or no patience. For the troubles of youth.
