Mothers Day

When I was a little girl,
I thought I ruled the world,
Every teddy at my feet,
With my swinging pig tails on the street,

With no front teeth, and the world in front of me,
You'd sit beside me, asking what I wanted to be,
A vet, teacher, dancer? Definitely not,
As a young child I dreamed a lot,

Now I realise, it was you and me,
That made me realise what I wanted to be,
The sun and the stars were there for a reason,
And you were there to help me see them,

As the world revolved and we come to now,
I still think I know the world some how,
But if I'm scared, I'll see your smile,
And I'll know the worlds ok for a little while,

Without the path at my feet,
It was easy to submit to defeat,
But I know you're there if I need a shoulder,
When my troubles become a boulder,

At those times it feels like the past,
And now I'm growing up so fast,
I want to hide in your arms right now,
Like it'd stop the future some how,

Somehow. Somehow. Somehow,
I wish the I knew what was coming now,
Hold me in your arms, cuddle me tight,
Chase away the monsters under my bed tonight,

I haven't changed at all,
The only difference I'm not so small,
After all I'm still the same, and you're still my mother,
And together we make a team, better than any other.

Then And Now

When scared or tired. It was your bed I'd go. Tucked up nicely. Sometimes you didn't even know. When I hurt myself. I'd cry to you. "I've got a booboo". And you'd fix it then kiss it better too.
