I remember sneaking into your room,
Trying your high heeled shoes,
Just to feel like you,
I remember feeling oh-so tall,
Although the chance I could fall,
Didn't matter at all.
I tried to walk in your shoes,
But I just couldn't do,
What you do- so easily,
I tried to walk in your shoes,
And you seem amused,
As I fell confused,
I tried to walk in your shoes,
When I was in my twos,
Because I had no clue.
I remember holding your shoes
Because at thirteen you knew,
I had really truly grew,
I remember holding your hand,
As I was trying to stand,
Into brand new land.
I begun to walk in your shoes,
And I started to do,
What you did so easily,
I begun to walk in your shoes,
And I was trying to prove,
I could be like you,
I tried to walk in your shoes,
Assuming that I knew,
But I had no clue.
I remember growing taller than you,
I was enjoying the view,
In my brand new shoes,
I remember watching you break down,
Shattered to the ground,
I couldn't stand the sound,
I remember trying to stand tall,
But I just felt so small,
Guess I couldn't fill the shoes after all.
I walked in your shoes,
And I know what you do,
Is not easy at all,
I walked your shoes,
And I found out the truth,
Of all of your wounds,
I walked in your shoes,
But I had no clue,
How you had to be strong,
For so long,
Holding everything together,
Constantly under pressure.
I tried to walk in your shoes,
I begun to walk in your shoes,
I walked in your shoes.
I remember sneaking into your room,
Trying your high heeled shoes,
Just to feel like you,
If only I'd knew.
