When I grow up
I used to say
That I couldn't wait
For that big day
When I'd be a man
Earning his pay
That was the plan
I was on my way
But had I known now
What I didn't then
I wouldn't have rushed
My boyhood's end
I'd had played awhile
A simple truth
Remained a child
Free from abuse
What did I loose?
My innocence gone
The man I'd grown
Is the man that longs
For childhood days
That I could own
Spent years away
As youth postponed
