I'd like a cape,
I'll tell you why,
I really think it'd help me
fly.
It could be blue,
or pink with spots,
Or paisley print with purple dots.
I also could use it to dry,
my hair or arms or even thighs.
For a picnic rug it'd be just great,
to stop those grass stains on a date.
And when it rained it'd keep me dry,
at least until I got inside.
It could wrap up abandoned hares,
if I was naked, prevent some stares.
I could use it to signal danger,
or to hide my fire from a forest ranger.
To escape a tower I'd hang it down,
(maybe not Paisley, perhaps a brown)
A temporary flag in times of war,
or a modest rug to cover the floor.
I'd use more than one to mark a goal,
or assist a vet to deliver a foal.
To put out a fire or signal with smoke,
or twirl to impress a rather nice bloke,
I think I'll sew one, I'll get my tape,
to make my first fabulous wonderful cape.
