You're a rebel with
As much of a cause
As any of us
Could ever claim to have;
An alcoholic for a dad,
A mother who cares
More about matching
Track suit twin sets
Than taking care of you,
No-one even took you
To the airport to
Wave goodbye,
Even though you were
Going to the other side
Of the world for
Eight months,
Your dad says he'll visit
But you know it's just
Another promise
Waiting to be broken.
Maybe you're adopted;
A chav for a brother
Wannabe WAGs for
Sister and mother,
I'm not sure how you
Managed to remain
You, and as sane,
Intelligent and free
As you are,
Your home town alone
Could have dragged you
Down into its filth
And left you broken,
Making a career of
Binge-drinking away
Your weekly dole pay,
But no, that was not
Your fate, you fought
And made an escape,
University, a degree
Then post-graduate;
Who'd of thought
The rebel-stoner
With a penchant for
Booze and fags,
In the red jeans and
Leather jacket would ever
Come to anything?
Well know this,
You're everything to me,
I see all you've achieved
And though no-one else
May ever say it
I will;
I'm proud of you.

Lovely!!! That is exactly the thing people need to hear when life has dealt them a crap deck! What a sweetie you are πππ
@MrsS thanks. I'm genuinely proud of everything he's achieved. It would have been much easier to fit in to the mould life had set for him but he refused and went his own way. I love that about him, he's so strong β€
