The rush of blood has faded to a drip,
Formed icicles around my empty heart,
On frozen tears my feet threaten to slip,
Winter long and dark when we are apart.
Beneath a foot of snow my body lies,
All but a frozen corpse I have become,
Frostbite gnaws; I threaten to close my eyes,
By loss of you I'm snow-blind, deaf and dumb.
Light a candle beneath my frozen form,
And melt my heart once more with words of fire,
In your arms I'll shelter from winters storm,
You are the kindling to my desire.
Become a guiding star through winter's night,
Lest love become an icy stalactite.
